#Ebola;Heartbreaking Tale of Nurse Justina Ejelonu's Agonising last days+ how her Fiance survived Ebola

Justina Ejelonu was one of the  nurses that attended to Nigeria's Ebola Index case the late Patrick Sawyer. Her Fiance Dennis Akagha narrates how it all started,her last painful days and how he survived after he had been infected in this Vanguard Interview..

"He and his wife-to-be had lofty dreams of living fulfilled lives and raising wonderful children together. The fiance was two months pregnant and their traditional marriage had been fixed for October.

His fiancee, a graduate nurse, had just secured a job at First Consultant Hospital, Lagos. He too also just got a marketing job with an oil and gas company. She was reluctant to go to work on the first day she was expected to resume on account of ‘morning sickness’ (pregnancy symptoms) and he encouraged her.

She did! Lo and behold, her first duty and first patient to nurse on her first day at work was the late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American, who brought the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) to Nigeria. And that decision put a full stop to the lofty dreams of a promising family. Welcome to the world of Mr. Dennis Akagha, the husband-to-be of late Miss Justina

The truth is that Justina and I were not legally married, we were planning for our traditional marriage in October and she just got this job. She was a qualified graduate nurse and got the job at the First Consultant Hospital in Lagos. She resumed duty at the hospital on the 21st of July, while Patrick Sawyer was admitted at the hospital on the 20th.

He was her first patient. She was one of the nurses that nursed him. She was pregnant and so her immune system was weak, which made it easy for her to contract the disease.

"Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay should be scared of me" I Influenced Majority of the female artists - May7ven

May7ven is Veteran footballer Segun Odegbami's daughter who has embraced music fully.

 She recently  opened up in an interview with NETng that she  is the pioneer and pathfinder for new school female pop divas.

 May7ven says she’s not scared of the competition at all. ‘I never see it as a competition’ she explains. ‘I know when I started, I know why a lot of females are now here.

 The likes of Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage were all with me in London when I did ‘Bo Aso Lara mi’, so I influenced majority of them to be doing what they are doing now. 

                                        

‘There always has to be a leader, someone who starts and creates things, and that’s how I see myself already. So the style I’m doing now, I guarantee you in another two years you’ll find another set of Tiwa Savage doing what I’m doing. I’ve always been an innovator and you can interview any of them, they’ll tell you the same thing so they maybe threatened that I’m around and not the other way round’. It’ll interest you to know that May7ven once managed Tiwa Savage many years back in the UK. 

                                         

‘Yea, we grew up together. She was in my younger sister’s class, I’m a year older than both of them and there was this competition we were part of, I was 12 years old at the time, and I managed the group and sang with them as well, we were five girls in the group and we came out joint winners with a male group. 

I managed the group till we were about 16. I have everything on film and one day I’ll possibly leak the videos (laughs), but I remember Tiwa was always singing, out of all of us, she sang the most while I was more focused on singing and dancing at the same time, she’s always been passionate about music’ she said. 


Speaking on her relationship with Tiwa savage at the moment, May7ven said, ‘We still talk, when I’m in town I call her, when she’s in London they come to see me. We are not tight as in calling ourselves every day, the music business we are in doesn’t allow us to do that, but we are still cool, I’m her older sister’.... 

#Ebolaupdate; Senegal records first case of Ebola

Senegal's health Minister..

Awa Marie Coll Seck, Senegal's Minister of Health has confirmed the country's first case of Ebola today Friday 29th August 2014 

The minister at a press briefing made it known that a male university student from Guinea, travelling to the country with the disease, was the index case. He went to a hospital in Dakar, the country's capital, on Tuesday, though doctors did not know that he was infected as he  concealed that he had had close contact with Ebola victims in his home country.

By Wednesday, a disease surveillance team in Guinea alerted authorities that they lost contact with a person who had been under watch after contact with sick persons three weeks prior. 

They suspected the young man was the missing person, eventually tracking him to the hospital in Dakar.

 Guinean authorities said the student from the Guinean capital, Conakry, had disappeared three weeks ago while under surveillance for having  had close contact with Ebola victims

 He was immediately quarantined, and is said to be in "satisfactory" condition. At this time they do not know how the young man entered the country.

Senegal is now the fifth West African country affected by the EbolaVirus Disease outbreak coming behind Guinea,Liberia,Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

Nigeria Recalls and reinstates sacked resident doctors

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, has announced the reinstatement of the over 16, 000 resident doctors sacked on August 13 .

The spokesperson to the Minister, Dan Nwomeh, in a tweet said the doctors reinstatement became effective yesterday (Thursday 28th August 2014).


Mr. Nwomeh said the Federal Government has also lifted the suspension of the Residency Training Programme, RTP in all federal hospitals.

Joan Rivers in Critical condition;Stopped breathing during surgery

Fashion police host Joan Rivers is said to presently be in a critical condition after her heart stopped during a surgical procedure

 According to reports, at some point, Joan's heart stopped beating. It's unclear if doctors were able to restart the comic's heart. 

TMZ reports that an emergency call was placed to 911 at 9:39 AM ET and the caller said, "We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest." 

Rivers was said to be undergoing a throat procedure in a clinic (specifically on her vocal chords) ... when she stopped breathing during the surgery. 

81-year-old Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in New York. Daughter Melissa is said to be on her way to New York to be by her mother's side..
