Seun Kuti recently unleashed a live video performance for “Emi Aluta” a key track from his new album ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’, executive produced by Lenny Kravitz

It’s a live video of the song Emi Aluta, which appears on Seun’s October album release, "Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)” from Record Kicks Italy.

The video, filmed during the Brazilian leg of his tour by French director Vincent Moon at Galpão Ladeira das Artes in Rio de Janeiro, captures all the raw energy and rebellious spirit of the song, a hallmark of Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s live performances. 

According to Seun, Emi Aluta is “a song about struggle (Aluta means struggle) that pays homage to all the great revolutionaries”.

 On Seun Kuti’s new album “Heavier Yet” the song is spiced by the featuring of Zambian singer, rapper and songwriter, Sampa The Great, called “one of best and most innovative lyricists of our time”.

Executive produced by legendary musician Lenny Kravitz and Fela Kuti’s original engineer Sodi Marciszewer (artistic producer), Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s new album ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’ delivers a sonic experience like no other. 

Each song on the album is a testament to Seun Kuti's unwavering commitment to using music as a tool for social change and empowerment. Through his powerful lyrics and infectious grooves, he continues to carry on the legacy of his father, the legendary Fela Kuti, while carving out his own path in the world of music.

 As a musician and pan-African activist, Seun has been involved in a number of campaigns in recent years, including #EndSARS – a social movement against police brutality in Nigeria.

 Significantly, he’s revived the Movement of the People (M.O.P.), the political party his father set up in 1979, which was quashed by the military government not long after Fela’s failed presidential bid. Seun Kuti is renowned for his captivating performances and socially conscious music. 

He is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and he has spent most of his life preserving and extending his father's political and musical legacy as the leader of his father's former band Egypt 80. 

As a developing saxophonist and percussionist, he entered the formal ranks of the band before he was 12. 

In 1997 when Fela passed, in fulfilment of his father's wishes, Seun assumed the mantle as head of Egypt 80 and he has run it ever since.

 During his career, Seun Kuti released 5 albums with Egypt 80 and collaborated with many artists, including Janelle Monae, Talib Kweli, Carlos Santana, MadLib and Black Thought. 

The new album ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’ is poised to redefine the boundaries of contemporary music while staying true to the roots of afrobeat.

 One of the 30 Marriott International brands, presenting a new concept of functional establishment that caters to all guests,especially guests on business trips who seek a higher level of comfort and luxury. 

Around these two premises, REQUENAY PLAZA has articulated an “elegant vintage” interior design style in keeping with the brand, in terms of functionality and timeless comfort.

It is a hotel designed with the comfort of the guests in mind.

Guests looking for a break from flight transit will be delighted with the proximity,as the airport is just 5 minutes away!

It also works for those who wish to find a business “operations center” for several days or weeks.

REQUENAY PLAZA designed the hotel with chromatic range of colours in the grey, tobacco and whisky range of the business centre,with the rooms contrasting with the corporate blue implemented in the rooftop pool, making it a magnificent after-work relaxation space for its clients.

The design of the rooms, spacious and functional, with a wide range of comfortable armchairs and modern spaces to work, toasted colors, and woods that give the whole a feeling of intimacy and tranquility. 

Special attention was also paid to the bathrooms, with simple and sober decoration, like an oasis of relaxation.

Its business center and lobby spaces are designed as a functional and contemporary setting for business meetings and encounters, reminiscent of the 1920s to 1950s, with decorative friezes evoking the “Mondrian aesthetic.

 In addition, there are 3 convention rooms available that complete the offer for corporate events, one of these rooms being dividable into 3 areas and with a capacity of up to 350 people.

The business spaces are arranged to encourage conversation, with areas for meetings boasting of elegant and welcoming furniture, wide armchairs and high backrests for extra soundproofing and discretion. 

The woods and the tobacco, whiskey and black colours contrast with the exterior, with wonderful views of the mountains surrounding the metropolitan area of Barcelona and Viladecans itself .

REQUENA Y PLAZA also designed several restaurants where the rooftop takes on special importance,with a magnificent swimming pool and a bar reminiscent of the traditional "beach chiringuito" but revised with touches of elegance. 

With this hotel, the URH Hoteliers GROUP has exceeded 1,000 rooms in its offer, becoming the company's 10th hotel and its first post-pandemic opening.

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 Release New Song “Stand Well Well,” Third and Final Single from Album Heavier Yet Available on Digital Platforms! European & UK “Heavier Yet” Tour To Start October 10!

 4 time Grammy-nominated artists Seun Kuti & Egypt 80  have just released

their new song “Stand Well Well” on streaming platforms September 10.

 It is a scorching Afrobeat track inspired by English author Aldous Huxley’s 1932 dystopian novel Brave New World, which is set in a futuristic world where citizens are arranged into social hierarchy challenged by the protagonist.

“I wanted to throw a jab at what society looks like to me,” Seun explains. “Everything in the world today looks the same. 

Everybody likes the same stuff and does the same things. It reminds me of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. A lot of people talk about George Orwell's 1984 as a prediction of our times, but I don’t think he was as accurate. 

He was far from accurate, but Brave New World was accurate because I see it in my everyday life.”

“Stand Well Well” is the third and final single from the band’s upcoming album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), which will be available via Milan-based label Record Kicks October 4.
