I am now in menopause! 39 year old Angelina Jolie has Ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed!

Two years after Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy to prevent the onset of breast cancer, the actress has revealed that she has since had her ovaries removed due to a second health scare. 

In a piece recently published by the The 39-year-old Hollywood star titled Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary Of A Surgery in the New York Times on Monday she shed more light on why she had to make that decision..

Jolie had to have her breasts surgically removed after she found out she was carrying a genetic mutation that greatly increased her risk of potentially fatal breast cancer.

The mutation in the BRCA1 gene gave her an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer.

She had been planning to undergo the surgery to remove her ovaries and Fallopian tubes for a while now, but a call from her doctor two weeks ago made the procedure more urgent.
A blood test detected potential anomalies linked to the protein CA-125, which is used to monitor ovarian cancer, Jolie's doctor told her, urging the actress to see her surgeon, who also had treated her late mother.

'I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt,' she writes. 
'I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.

With her ovaries and Fallopian tubes now gone, the mother-of-six has entered early menopause and will not be able to have any more children, she writes in her candid, deeply personal essay.

Last week, Hollywood’s leading lady went under the knife, undergoing what is known as a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.

Jolie revealed that one of her ovaries did have a small tumor on it but it turned out to be benign, and there were no signs of cancer in the tissues.

She noted that she chose to keep her uterus because there is no history of uterine cancer in her family.
To counteract the loss of her ovaries, Jolie turned to hormone replacement therapy and had an IUD inserted in her womb, but she says in the essay that her child-bearing years are now behind her.

‘Regardless of the hormone replacements I’m taking, I am now in menopause,’ she writes. ‘I will not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared.’

Luckily Angelina has such a big family already 6 children some adopted and some biological so she should be fine..

Angelina Jolie embraces Double mastectomy due to Cancer fears..

Reports have emerged that Hollywood stunning Diva Angelina Jolie has had to have a double Masectomy due to fears she had a 87% chance of Breast Cancer.

Dailymail reports that the the actress made the decision to undergo the procedure in february after learning that she is a carrier of the BRCA1 cancer gene.

The 37-year-old's mother Marcheline Bertrand died at the age of 56 from ovarian cancer, which Angelina revealed she has a 50% chance of contracting.

The Telegraph also reports that her Husband Brad Pitt has been extremely supportive.

Jolie adds "Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. 

I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy."

However, she believes the final results of surgery to reconstruct breasts with implants could be “beautiful”. She completed her medical procedures on April 27.

“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy.

“But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 per cent to under 5 per cent.

“I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer. It is reassuring that they see nothing that makes them uncomfortable.

They can see my small scars and that’s it. 

Everything else is just Mommy, the same as she always was. And they know that I love them and will do anything to be with them as long as I can.

February 2nd - Angelina begins three months of treatments prior to undergoing a preventative double mastectomy, starting with a 'nipple delay, which rules out disease in the breast ducts behind the nipple and draws extra blood flow to the area.

February 16th - The actress undergoes the major surgery - an eight hour operation which sees the breast tissue removed before temporary fillers are put in place.

March 26th - Angelina is pictured in the Republic of Congo with William Hague following the initial operation.

April 4th - Angelina attends the Women in the World Summit in New York looking in good spirits.

April 11th - Angelina is pictured with William Hague at the G8 Summit in London.

April 20th - Angelina has the final operation as her breasts are reconstructed with implants.

April 27th - The mother-of-six completes the medical process. She is told that the surgery was a success and her chances of contracting breast cancer have now been reduced from 87% to less than 5%.

May 14th - Angelina reveals her decision in an editorial piece published in the New York Times newspaper
